Today, we’re very excited to officially launch our new brand. We hope you like it. (We sure do.) You’ll notice a refreshed look on our website. But this is about more than just new colors and new words. Divvy’s new brand represents who we are, our mission, our customers, our agents, and our team — the people who carry that mission forward everyday. It embodies our values and our worldview. For that reason, we’d like to take a moment to share what the new brand means for you.
Making homeownership accessible to everyone
This year has brought significant challenges for all Americans. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the importance of home in our lives abundantly clear, as many of us now live, work, and educate our children at home.
The Black Lives Matter movement has highlighted how far we still are from equality and how tragic the consequences can be for people who face racism, discrimination, and bias. It has demonstrated the importance of equitable opportunities for homeownership in America and the need for institutions that are dedicated to this goal.
We started Divvy in 2017 with the goal of helping more people buy a home. Since then, we’ve personally talked to thousands of interested customers and helped hundreds of them achieve their dream of owning a home. But it was these themes of 2020 that prompted us to revisit who we are and recommit to what we stand for.
Homeownership has long been part of the American Dream. Not only has it brought security, stability, and joy to millions of families, it also has been one of the most powerful wealth-building tools for ordinary people. But today, that dream is faltering. Too many people are excluded from homeownership, either because they cannot qualify for a mortgage or because they cannot keep pace with rising prices.
A society where homeownership is reserved for only the most privileged is not a healthy society. We believe that equal access to homeownership is crucial to making this country strong and resilient.
The new Divvy brand affirms our commitment to this mission and the values that guide us in our work. These values are:
The core concept of our new brand is that we’re in your corner. Not only do we believe in you, we stand behind you with the right tools, guidance, and knowledge to make your dream of homeownership happen. If you’ve been knocked down, we’re here to help you get back up. Whatever happens, you’re not alone, because you’ve got Divvy on your side.
Building a new way to own a home
Divvy has created a new way to own a home that expands access to more people and puts more control in your hands. With our rebrand, we wanted to make the Divvy website and all of our tools more responsive, easier to understand, and more representative of our values.
Here’s how Divvy is making good on that promise starting today:
1. A brand new website with clearer information for customers and agents
Transparency and honesty are two of our core values because we understand the weight of the financial decisions of our program and take that responsibility seriously. Our website is the first impression we get to make and we owe you a proper introduction! We focused on making our new website very easy to understand who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. We believe the new homepage will make it easier for you to learn what Divvy is all about and decide whether it’s right for you.
We are committed to providing a first-class experience for everyone, including our agents. That’s why we’re proud to unveil a new Agents page that speaks directly to people in the real estate industry and explains the benefits of working with Divvy. One of our goals is to be even more open with agents and provide them with all the knowledge they need to successfully bring Divvy to their clients. Agents share our mission of expanding access to homeownership and that’s one reason why we work so well together. We believe the new Agents page helps us accomplish that mission.
2. A more intuitive sign-up process for customers
Our application process has always been fast compared to the traditional mortgage industry. But we hold ourselves to an even higher standard. So when we embarked on the rebranding project, we asked “How can we improve the application for our customers?” Fortunately, we discovered a number of ways to do so, including removing unnecessary steps, making the language more direct and easier to understand, automating steps where appropriate, and giving you a reply faster than before. The new application process takes less than 5 minutes and will quickly equip you with a budget to get out and begin home shopping.
3. A more powerful and responsive portal for real estate agents
As stated above, our brand is for all our customers — and that means real estate agents, too. Agents are an incredibly important partner for Divvy. We set out to make the agent experience much smoother, faster, and more powerful. We did that by creating an entirely new Agent Portal (coming soon) that is designed to help our agents get more done. Agents love Divvy because we help their clients who otherwise might not get into a home take the first step toward homeownership. The new Agent Portal will make it even easier for agents to track customers along their journey with Divvy. Now, you’ll be able to see exactly what needs to be done at every step and access Divvy’s resources at exactly the right time to make your job easier.
Let’s expand homeownership together
We believe that Divvy can be a bridge to homeownership for those who’ve previously been excluded. Our program makes it possible to start living in your dream home today while giving you the time and tools to get your finances in tip top shape so you can buy the home in the future. It’s the best of both worlds.
Ultimately, Divvy is about expanding access to homeownership so everyone can enjoy the benefits — the joy of a lazy Sunday morning making pancakes with the kids or riding bikes around the neighborhood. And the opportunity to grow old in your own home while building equity along the way, creating a nest egg for you and your family.
